Almost almost 2!

I've been absent from blogging for a while. I've been busy being a mummy and a wife, not a very happy one but the work never stops and you have to keep going. Rather than focus what is not so good let us focus on the soon to be events of the following week.

Little man turns 2 on Tuesday!!!! Argh!! It's very scary, maybe because most people say "oh no terrible twos" personally we started these at around 18 months, they do seem to have reached a peak recently (I really hope). I don't now why it's scary, maybe how quickly he has developed recently is the scary thing. He has started talking all the time, his vocabulary has expanded slightly and the amount of babble is much reduced. He can now name the entire family of Peppa Pig. Although Peppa is pronounced bebba, am I very impressed at his ability to say "George".

We're taking little man to the Sealife centre for a birthday treat, then grandparents are coming round. On Saturday we're having a little party at our house with a few playgroup friends. I am very nervous about the party.

I'm having my hair done tomorrow - a nice indulgent treat for me whilst DH has the week off, we have little mans development check up on Thursday and more Tumble tots on Friday.

I have 2 cakes to make and lots of presents to wrap up and the house needs de-cluttering and tidying after dying from a terrible cold which has lasted for almost 9 days before.

I'm exhausted!

Boo!!

Not wanting to pinch the title from West of the Pennines but I have to post about my little mans new favourite game.

As the title suggessts it's boo! He hides in or under things and says "eyeding" or "me gone" then about 2 seconds later he jumps out and shouts Boo! It's very cute.

There is now a recent twist in the game, he will lie down and pretend to be asleep and even makes sleepy snoring noises, then he jumps up and shouts boo. Last night he did this in the bath!!!! Where did he learn to make sleepy noises??

We went to an outdoor shop today to look for an awning for our caravan, the top floor was full of tents, how wonderful! Little man loved hiding in them and running out shouting boo! He even climbed onto the bottom shelf on the acessories section and again said "eyeding"

He's not quite at the hide and seek stage yet but I'm loving this one - it's so funny & cute at the same time!

First Day at "Work"

Well after chatting to a friend who is in the local NCT, I agreed to help out at the Nearly New Sale. I am very intrigued as to how they organise it and when I was told that volunteers get 30 mins shopping before the sale opens I was pleased to. This cuts out all the queuing to get in and to pay.

The night before I was at a party and it was only when I got back after telling everyone how excited I was to be having a grown up day, it hit me - this would be the first ever whole day (8.15am- 4pm) that I had ever been away from Little Man and him from Me!! My emotions gave up on me and I cried, I had to sort myself out before I could go to sleep.

I managed to leave him, trying not to cry as he was crying mummy, mummy, mummy, as I left the house. Luckily I joined up with my friend very soon and soon we were very busy putting hundreds of baby clothes, toys, books, jigsaws and allsorts onto rails and tables ready for the sale. As a bonus you could reserve anything you found as you were putting it out.

The stuff was priced by the sellers and most stuff was very reasonable only some being a little over priced for what it was. Again there was hundreds of baby clothes and baby items, if you know anyone who is expecting their first baby - send them to this sale beofre they go spending an absolute fortune at a high street store.

I helped one pregnant lady carry a moses basket with bedding, a stand, baby bath, clothes, toys and a sterliser to her car, she'd got almost everything she needed for under £40. They we're even selling highcahirs, prams, cots, trikes and more.

I spent too much money - but got some great bargains. Also got some goregous baby clothes for 2 of my friends who are due to have babies in the new year. I will just have to hope that one has a girl and one has a boy!

I survived very well until my "job" which was suppossed to be a memeber of a till team was taken by someone else whilst I nipped to the car to safely stash my purchases. I ended up being a "floater" just milling round picking up dropped clothes, moving toys and games so people could see them better and helping any pregnant ladies or people with large items to their cars. Wasn't too bad but I wasn't very busy and I began to think about little man - I got very "homesick" for him and was texting like mad.

I survived until the end and helped return all the unsold items to the sellers. A huge amount of stuff which hadn't sold was donated to Derian House and I was astounded at how many sellers chose not to take their unsold items home and donate them instead.

Little man survibed his first day with Daddy and had a good time too. He loved the bucket of Duplo I picked up for £4, even better when we opened it there was half a duplo farm in there complete with cows, horses and sheep. As well as 3 cars, several people and lots of bricks - he was in love and still is. He is though very upset that the little pig which came in the set doesn't have a mummy pig to look after it!!!! awwww

Happy Halloween

I've previously never been a fan of the feast of Halloween. The last few years I have been very "bah humbug" about it and refused to give nay trick or treaters anything. In some strange way - none turned up for the previous 3 years we have been living in our current house.

I was petrified of naughty teenagers throwing eggs or causing mischief or even worse people trying to barge in the house. In 2007 I was 36 weeks pregnant on Halloween and I spent the night with my in-laws as I didn't want to be all alone. (DH was working all night).

Anyway this year little man and I carved a pumpkin, first time for both of us and we lit a tea light and popped it in. I was very impressed. I had been feeling terrible all day so it was a bigger achievement just for that reason. Anyway the pumpkin seemed to tell the world and it's neighbour that we were an open house for trick or treaters. We got so many I was overwhelmed. I'd also made fairy cakes which little man that morning and 18 of them went pretty quick, we were then rooting through the cupboards for snacks to give away. Flapjack, club biscuits and eventually fruit.

I actually enjoyed it, little man was scared by the costumes but once he got used to it he liked it, he said ded-dum (bye-bye) to them all as they left. He was very confused as to why we gave them all cakes though!! Maybe next year I'll let him have a costume, maybe there'll be one at the NCT sale next week....
