I've been tagged...

By a lovely brave lady at allgrownup. Don't know how to link things yet sorry. I think I have to answer the questions she put on her post so here goes:

1. Who is the hottest movie star?
I don't fancy anyone from a movie at all and the last thing I saw at the cinema was Wallace and Grommit, Curse of the Were-Rabbit!

2. Apart from your house and your car what's the most expensive thing you have ever bought?
probably my wedding dress

3. What's your most treasured memory?
When I first met DH and we spent almost every day of 2003 together, young free and so so happy was wonderful.

4.What was the best gift you ever received as a child?
My Flute & Electronic Organ.

5. What is the biggest mistake you've made?
selling my trustworthy little car for a posh new one that broke down all the time and eventually went back to the garage for a refund, then somehow allowing DH to use the money to buy a LDV Van!!

6. 4 words to describe myself

paranoid, caring, sensitive, lazy

7. what was my highlight or lowlight of 2008?

highlight - giving up work to look after my baby

8. Favourite film?
Forrest Gump

9. Tell me one thing I don't know about you
I used to work in McDonalds as a teenager!

10. If you were a comic book/strip or cartoon character, who would you be?
Peppa Pig

Fruits & Vegetables of labour!

Well yes, I am very excited as we have tomatoes growing on our tomato plants! woo hoo! Some very small ones and one slightly larger one, as above. The plants have got so big as I didn't know you had to pinch out all the new growth from the stems. I feared they might not fruit at all.

Thanks to the BBC's dig in seeds we shall soon be able to have our own carrot, lettuce & beetroot salad. All doing very well as far as we can see as the below picture shows. Also got rhubarb growing at the far right, a rogue sunflower at the back and plenty of weeds and a red football next to the greenhouse.

Little man has been very diligent in his watering duties, he loves it so much and demands for more water every time it runs out! Here is his sunflower's progress. Picture on the left is approx 1st June and picture on the right is 20th July.

how many people can you get in an inflatable hot tub?

Well, I did it. I actually accomplished many things this weekend.

We went shopping and bought some tights (bargain in the next sale and will be great in winter), got some new trainers for DH which only cost £20, got 2 Bob the Builder DVDs for £5 and found a present for our friend, a Top Gear make your own amphibious vehicle model kit. Yes it was from a children's book shop but it looked good fun so we went for it.

We left little man digging up potatoes with his Grandma and Grandad and got dressed up for the BBQ. Once we'd had the text to say little man was happily sleeping we opened the wine/beer.

After a few glasses of rose wine (which I got asked for ID for in Asda!!) I plucked up courage to go in the hot tub at a friends 30th birthday party with other girly friends. I wore a bikini, yes a skimpy one with ties at the side and behind the neck!! A couple of drunken blokes made a few comments, which were all very favourable but embarrassing but I said thank you. We all knew each other so it was lovely. It got a bit boisterous when drunken blokes decided to dive bomb get in the pool so me & girly friend got out at that point.

Unfortunately 2 and half glasses of wine proved to be too much and after my stint in the hot tub I felt pretty awful. 2 cups of tea and half a packet of doritioes later I began to feel better - would of eaten better if there had been anything else left. Must remember that one cannot drink like one used to. We stayed until after 2am! Then I had to tell DH that I really needed to sleep.

Had a lie in until 9.15 ish and text G&G for little man update. He was happy & playing and had slept all night and there was no rush. We had a big brekkie and went round to see him. He gave me a big cuddle. We had lunch out whilst little man slept and then we took him to a playpark which he really enjoyed.

Had a slight hangover today which I've cured by eating lots of junk food and several thousand cups of tea. I'm still hungry and trying to resisit the urge to go out and buy chips/pizza. It was great to see our friends again.

I managed not to go on and on about babies, childbirth, my little man's development all night so was proud also. Everyone asked about him so they all got the same story. My DH told me that everyone thought I looked great especially after having a baby and birthday boy told me I had a cute bum! I have to put that down to all the walking and pushing a heavy pram/pushchair through Astley Park several times a week.

Oh and we got 5 people at once in the hot tub, anymore and the water was spilling out everywhere. It was great - anyone want to go halves on buying one?!

Butterflies

Oh we have a rare occasion to go out and see our friends (non-baby ones anyway) tomorrow afternoon/evening. As usual I have got the butterflies, big time. We haven't got the birthday boy a present yet. He has got everything he wants and if he wants something he just buys it. Despite my suggestion of getting him something he doesn't want (!) we still haven't bought him anything. We will probably end up in Tesco buying him a crate of Stella or similar. At least he will enjoy it and it will get used instead of being thrown in the bin a year later.

I'm off to try on swimming costumes/bikinis to see which looks the best as he's got an inflatable hot tub which he has just finished pumping up and now needs to fill and heat before Saturday night! I might not go in it but I also don't want to be left out if it's fun. Birthday boy's girlfriend won't be going in or shouldn't be as she's approx 15 weeks pregnant. I've dug out a sarongy thing and a shirt/dress type thing that you can wear over your swim suit

I'm horrendously paranoid about my apperance especially in front of people I know. I'm much better than I used to be but for some reason I'm panicking like mad about what to wear tomorrow. My hair looks awful as it needs cutting and re-dying as the colour is growing out but I just haven't got around to getting it done. Grrrr must grit teeth and say it doesn't matter what you look like, it's who you are that counts.

I'm also fretting about leaving little man at Grandma and Grandad's overnight. He and I will be fine early afternoon and evening - it's just him not being there when we get in and also him not being there when we wake up.

Part of me is saying "get a grip woman" and enjoy the night, have a few drinks and enjoy the morning lie in with hubby until the text message from G&G arrives saying he's getting fretful. Unfortunately I love him so so so much and I have a big problem letting him go - no matter how much he annoys me during the day, but I am also keen to have a good time at the party and chat with good friends I haven't seen properly since New Years Eve/Day. AAARRRGGHH!!! flipping hormones.

DH also said something last night - he wants to try for a another baby and he thinks sooner rather than later would be a good idea - AAARRRGGGHH! again !!!!! - My comment = no comment! Although with what we've been doing lately and rather carelessly I must admit, we need to be careful or we might end up with one sooner than we both thought!

DH has taken little man into the garage to do bloke stuff, probably involving repairing an amp rack. It will involve DH using a soldering iron and small electronic parts - I am wondering how long it will be before I am summond to take charge of little man, especially as he's only napped for 10 mins today!! He's also had to shut him in there due to the wet weather and little man does not like to be shut in one room, then again there is that much junk in the garage(think aladdins cave) that he might be loving it.

Lots of bits and bobs.

We've been busy and out and about recently doing lots of walking in the park, lots of moaning about the hot weather (typically British) and lots of bits and bobs which aren't anything major but still all quite fulfilling.

Little man soon cheered up after the heat wave was washed out on Friday and so did I. Until then I was thinking that Sir Whingealot (little boy of a friend) would soon have a little friend dubbed Sir Strop-a-lot! Thankfully we seem to be getting better by the day :-)

I hope I haven't jinxed myself there. Some of our exploits include:

  • Little man went to church for the first time ever to a friends baby blessing. He managed to sit through 30 mins of the service before becoming impossible and having to be taken outside to run around. He greatly enjoyed copying the lady at the front of the church who was conducting the congregation whilst singing the hymns. He had a great time playing with baby's big brother and sister afterwards. Also was very shocked that DH agreed to go to church.

  • I got to hold teeny tiny baby for ages during church service. Mmmmm. lovley. He didn't do much though just slept and wiggled a bit. Was quite a shock, I can't remember my little man ever just doing that or sleeping for that long in the day!

  • Little man went to a Princess Party for the big sister of baby the next day but didn't really seem to enjoy himself and the 3 year old girls, sorry Princesses ignored him! He had a little friend who was 16 months to play with though but as usual they spent most of their time arguing over the same toys. He managed to eat about 100 strawberries and several thousand cakes.

  • He now has some new words which he is trying to say which are: cake, bin, and cream!!

  • Found a great new play park in Buckshaw Village (big new housing developement not too far from our house) and went with friends, it also has houses being built around it so there are plenty of diggers so added bonus there! Very safe and all contained and great for different age children.

  • Bought little man a Peppa Pig trike for his belated 18 month birthday (decided it was a good deal and won't be much fun December when he's 2)! It's not too girly as it's blue, red and yellow, the Peppa Pig bits are just stickers.

  • Regretted buying aforemetioned article after having to push little man round on it all through park and getting screamed at if I stopped for even 1 minute! It doesn't steer very well at all! Thing is he loves it! Grrrrr. I hope he learns to pedal it on his own very soon. He needs to grow another inch yet though.

  • Wondered if tomato plants will ever stop getting bigger and will start producing fruit? Wondered what the funny whitey/grey patches are on the leaves of the beetroot - looked it up and it looks like leaf mites :-(

  • Felt sorry for across the road's cat who seems to have been neglected since they went away 2 weeks ago, so went and stroked it in the cul-de-sac, it let little man stroke it too which delighted him even more. I invited the cat in for tuna fish today but it didn't take us up on the invite.

  • Got little man to the shoe shop awake and got his feet measured. He'd gone up a size in both length and width. Luckily found a pair in sale for £14. Not bad for Clarks. He's now a 5 1/2 G.

  • Little man has now entered the some days I will nap and others I won't stage, if he does nap there's no telling how long it will be for.
  • Little man's strops are on the increase, at present they are short lived but they are increasing in frequency. Argh! He sometimes has them for no apparant reason. Other reasons like when Peppa Pig or Bob the Builder finish on the TV are just annoying. Terrible twos here we come.
  • Little man has started building things with his mega blocks. Below is one of his creations. Next step Duplo - Mega Blocks are rubbish and do not stay together. They are however much cheaper than Lego.

  • I am amazed at how much little man can recognise in a book and can recognise complicated things. e.g. where are the coats? he points to the coats. Where is Daddy Pig's coat? He points to the longest coat!! wow! One day he will wake up and start blurting out all these words in full sentences, for now he calls anything he can't say "adid", Agug, or agig!

I am having a great time being me, never really have much non mummy stuff to say but that is part of being a SAHM I suppose. Off to a friends 30th next week, they're having a BBQ and possibly hiring a hot tub/swimming pool in the garden so we've been told to take swim wear. Oh cripes. Swim wear in front of friends eeeeekkkk! Must book in for bikini wax and try swimsuits on to see how they fit as everything is different to how it used to be! Also need to get babysitter sorted......

wee wee!

Little man did a wee wee on the toilet tonight!

No we are not toilet training him at 19 months but I saw a soft toilet seat for £2 today so I got one. I sat little man on it so he could get used to sitting on the toilet. (He has an obsession about the toilet and constantly runs up to it and says wee wee)

Before his bath we always take his nappy off and he has weed on the floor every night for a few weeks now and he seems to be making it happen we think?! Anyway he weed on the floor at the exact same time so we sat him on the seat and he did some more in the toilet! We looked at each other in amazement!!! He got a bit upset when we flushed the wee wee away though!

But we are not going to toilet train him now, he isn't ready yet but we didn't see the harm in trying. Occasionally he says wee wee during the day and sometimes says "gone" when he's done the other thing but nothing is consistent and I'm still adamant we'll wait until he seems ready.

I'm fed up with the heat - it's too much. Bring on the cooler air!

Post birthday blues

I have woken up at some stupid hour for various reasons but I'm so upset about what happened yesterday that I can't get back to sleep. All the mummys out there hopefully understand but maybe not as I am extremrely possesive. It might not be a big deal to other people but it is to me and I can't stop crying so I'm writing it down in the hope of venting my feelings and being able to go back to sleep soon.

Yesterday my little man only slept for 30 mins at lunchtime, probably because he fell asleep in the car. When he woke up he was really clingy, very hot and sweaty and generally upset.

After him not settling for ages despite me cuddling, changing his clothes, giving him food and drink. He was still crying and constantly wanting mummy, my mum took him out in the pram despite my protests that they were taking him away from what he most wanted. "She went with my dad and they said they'd just take him round the block so I reluctantly agreed to let them take him for the 10 mins or so.

They were gone nearly an hour and they took him to the the park and showed him Peppa Pig, some hawks and eagles and took him on the new play park. They never thought to ring, they didn't take anything with them including hats, nappies and suncream, They didn't ring to tell me all the wonderful stuff was happeneing so I missed out on seeing my little ones delight at Seeing Peppa Pig and playing with a now happy little man in the park on my birthday.

I am so upset about it, I was just sat at home waiting and getting worried. I had to ring them eventually, I would never shout at them as I am scared to shout at my parents, I supposse it served me right for turning down their bbq idea and they haven't seen him for 3 weeks - oh I don't know anymore, now I feel stupid and guilty. Then I get upset again.

I have the urge to grab little man and run, run away very far (well probably drive) but I think that's just heat of the moment.
