Garden Antics

Well DH didn't want to go to Cuerden Valley Fair so I reluctantly stayed behind with him. A slightly upset tummy also persuaded me a little but I was miffed to be missing an opportunity with friends and their babies.

So, As well as bbq-ing we tidied up our garden this weekend. DH built little man his own sand pit and we just need to buy the sand now. Whilst he annoyed the neighbours by his usual style of 'using as many power tools as possible to do one job' technique, myself and little man weeded the garden. Little man had great fun putting the weeds into a bucket for me and also at using a little trowel to do some digging himself. Our garden grows stuff for fun, not the useful edible stuff but the strange green weedy things which go really tall but never flower. Alternatively we do get the stuff which makes pretty little flowers but spreads across the whole garden like a carpet. I've decided to leave some of it as it is pretty from a distance.

I can't believe where it all comes from.

We really enjoyed the sunny weather and stayed out of the direct sun, with the help of a gazebo. It was difficult to keep a hat on little man so he was smothered in factor 50 as there was no way he would stay put under the shade despite temptations. It was also great to eat outside and not have to clean up the mess from little man's tea!

I dug out some the bits of garden which were completely covered in weeds, and moved all the dangerous stuff (mess that DH has left behind from half finished projects) up the side of the shed and put a little gate across to stop little man hurting himself and also him getting in the shed.

The veg we planted is growing very well and little man's sunflower is now bigger than he is! Little man tried to plant pansies in a pot and spent a lot of time moving soil from one area of the garden to another. He also watered the grass, the weeds, his feet, his slide, the car, the soil which has nothing growing in it and his feet again! He also picked buttercups and then tried to plant them in more soil!

Little man spent most of Sunday saying car. He said car if he heard a car go past, he said car when he saw his toy car and he said car at least 500 times!! We got a bit fed up of him saying car in the end. So he naturally spent most of the day in his car and playing with his toy digger, water and digging in the soil. This is the result of his day - guess who has to clean it?!
